Samuel Kirszenbaum, Public

The focus is on concert crowds in this Photaumnales exhibit on the theme of Rock 'n' Roll for this 11th edition.

"My interest in this series is to document changes in habits and styles of people who go to festivals, not to mention their unchanging behaviour. An example? Digital cameras starting in 2002-2003, then mobile phones starting in 2004-2005, making their appearance as memory catchers.

Another example? The happiness of a good concert, an overexcited crowd, security personnel driven to their corners when an artist decides to leave the stage to touch his fans, their pogo dancing, the sweat, etc.: at a time when music is consumed more or less like an object, the live performance comes into its own, and this type of audience reflects that."
