Robert Kluba, The Fury of the Past

11 May 2015 - 21 December 2014 | Museum Garden

Rock ‘n' roll is featured for the 11th edition of the Photaumnales in the Oise.

"Sixty years after the first songs played on the radio, the fans of rock ‘n' roll are younger than the songs from that time. They are involved in associations, they meet in music clubs on weekends when there are automobile races. They often work in jobs associated with their passion: musicians, hair stylists, tattoo artists, designers, etc. (...)"

They bring back to life the lifestyle of that period and form a community that spreads across Europe and the world. Their fascination with 1950's American music also manifests itself in their taste for fashion, vintage decors and old cars. They are more than just fans; their day-to-day life is anchored in the Fifties.

"The Fury of the Past” tales us back to a time when impressive 8-cylinder limos, stands for cathode-ray television sets and 45 RPM records were selling like hot cakes.

The exhibit takes visitors on a contemporary journey between Paris and Berlin and takes a close look at the world of today's rockers in a retro world.  It elicits a disturbing feeling in which past and present are abolished.”
